They say a picture paints a thousand words and our main photo by Donna Crebbin is testament to that statement.  We have used Donna’s images on the covers of Secrets several times, as she has an ability to capture the true essence of the subjects she is photographing, especially horses and “action heroes”.


The Maldon In Winter festival is on again and runs until 14th July. It’s an annual festival of events during the coolest part of the year. To warm the heart and soul you can join a monster bonfire at Maldon Golf Club. B.Y.O marshmallows, This is a family friendly event. Friday 5th July–6pm  Entry $10 includes casserole and roast potato.

Chinese contemporary photographer for Ballarat International Foto Biennale

Liu Bolin – photographer and social activist will be the centrepiece of this year’s festival. As one of China’s most prominent living artists, Bolin deftly traverses the mediums of performance, photography and social activism.  Dubbed the ‘invisible man’ by media, he dissects the tense relationship between the individual and society by ‘disappearing’ into environments which are sites of intrigue, contention and criticism — particularly in his home country, China.

Design Exchange Market

Part of the Ballarat Winter Festival, the two-day design market is a collection of over 50 designers, artists, bakers, boutique whisky makers and musicians coming together in this beautiful historic building. Held on Saturday, July 6 (4pm-9pm) and Sunday, July 7 (10am-3pm) at the Ballarat Mining Exchange, 12 Lydiard Street North.
